Bride-to-be, Alandra, and I have known each other for over a dozen years! Her older sister and I graduated together, so we’ve been friends for quite some time…and no, I’m not giving an exact date because I don’t want to feel old! LOL I’m so excited they chose me to be their engagement and wedding photographer.
Alandra and Eric met over ten years ago while in college at Michigan State University, sharing a dorm floor as well as multiple classes together. They began dating shortly after meeting, and even did long distance successfully while Alandra was in Chicago for graduate school!
Last summer, Eric surprised her with the greatest gift – their proposal! He arrived early to a holiday weekend getaway on Harsen’s Island, and had set up “walkway of love”, showcasing images along the path of their relationship with him at the end, holding a beautiful engagement ring, and asking Alandra to be his bride.
For our engagement session together last fall, we met up at Detroit’s famous Belle Isle. An absolutely beautiful park that is nestled between Detroit and Canada! Belle Isle used to have a small amusement park and golf course, and remnants can still be seen through fencing. Belle Isle currently has an aquarium, a small nature zoo, as well as a “casino” banquet hall to rent for weddings and events!
We kept the start of our session more secluded, and as we changed outfits, we explored the famous James Scott Fountain as well as some of the architecture of the Casino. I cannot wait for their wedding this September at the Garden Theatre in downtown Detroit!! Alandra and Eric are most excited to see their friends and family, as well as enjoying the band they have hired!! I’ll stop talking and let you see some of my favorite images of their session.
